About Rick

Rick Corley is committed to South Carolina families. Since graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1976, he has dedicated his more than 30-year career to clients in Beaufort, Charleston, and other communities throughout the state.

Upon graduating, he spent a few years as a public defender before joining a Beaufort-based law firm, where he practiced litigation for 18 years. It was during this time that he encountered his first family court cases and discovered his true calling: adoption law. It was a natural transition for Rick, whose problem-solving and people skills have made him a trusted partner for birth parents and adoptive families alike.

Rick began focusing more exclusively on adoption cases, leaving the firm to start his own practice in 1998. Since then, he has helped build thousands of South Carolina families through all types of adoption, from stepparent and relative to domestic infant and foster care adoption.

Rick is a proud Fellow of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys and is a 2010 recipient of the Angels in Adoption Award.
